The goal of the challenge is to get the participants to focus on the virtues of a Godly person that Christ displayed in his life and bringing them into their lives. Each week the participants are challenged to focus on a different virtue and to score themselves on how well they portrayed that virtue in their lives each day of the week. By requiring the participants to score themselves, it requires that the day be reflected on and opens the opportunity to make notes and start discussions. Ultimately it aims to bring the participants closer to Christ and to living their lives in a Christ like manner.
Step One:
Hit the sign up link above. We simply ask for your name and email address. Once you submit your info to us, you will get an email from us with a link to your tracking spreadsheet.
Step Two:
Once you have received the email from us, clicking on the link will open up the spreadsheet in your web browser. You must have a google account in order to use the spreadsheet, so it will ask for your user name and password before it opens the page. If you don't have a google account, don't worry it is free to sign up and easy. There is a link to do so right below the log-in box.
Step Three:
With the spreadsheet open, you should see a few different tabs down in the bottom left side of your screen. They are named "Score Sheet", "Daily Notes", "Visual Chart", and "Virtue Descriptions".
Score Sheet
The score sheet tab is used to track your daily scores. It is set up for a 16 week challenge and to except a score for each day of the week, starting with Thursday. So each Thursday is when the latest Virtue Challenge will be made active. You are to score each day with a score between 0 and 10, with 0 being the lowest score and 10 being the highest score. It's important to note that this NOT about getting the highest score. So be completely honest with your scoring, actually reflect on the day AND ASK GOD how you did that day! Your scores and notes are to remain private, so you don't need to share that info. The purpose is to get you thinking, start a discussion with God and share what you've learned with the group.
Daily Notes
This one is self explanatory. It's meant to be a place for you to enter notes about why you chose the score you set for each day. (don't forget you can post public comments on each topic at virtureschallenge.blogspot.com)
Visual Chart
This tab shows a visual representation of your daily scores for each Virtue.
Virtue Description
This tab is where you will find a quick note about each virtue and a link to the webpage for a full description.
Step Four:
Open discussion. Be prepared to share your thoughts and what you learned through out the week with the group at the next meeting. Part of what makes these type of challenges successful is the interaction between its participants, sharing what they have learned, allowing each other to learn as well.
